About Melissa

Melissa Hilton has represented residents of Charlottetown for the past twelve years as a City Councillor.

Currently she serves as Chair of the Finance committee, Vice-Chair of the Public Works Committee, and Vice Chair of the Parks and Leisure Committees. Previously she has chaired both the Fire and Emergency Services Committee and the Parks and Recreation Committee.

As Chair of the City of Charlottetown Finance committee, Melissa has led the fight against the MacLauchlan government’s unfair tax system, which has robbed hundreds of thousands of dollars from the residents of Charlottetown.

Melissa Hilton was born and raised in Charlottetown where she lives with her husband Rob Gallant and two daughters, Nicole and Robyn. Alongside her service as a City Councillor, Melissa and Rob operate a family business in Charlottetown.

Melissa was an active board member with the Four Neighborhood Community Health Centre and the Island Fitness Council. You probably have seen Melissa at Cody Banks Arena, where she has been actively involved as manager of the Sherwood Parkdale Rural Minor Hockey Association for numerous hockey teams.

VOTER ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to vote in the District 11 By-Election you must:

  • Resident of PEI for a period of at least 6 months from the day the election is called;
  • In the polling division for District 11 on the date of the writ of the election (October 31, 2017);
  • Be at least 18 years of age on Election Day (Nov. 27, 2017); and
  • Be a Canadian citizen;

To register to vote in the upcoming by-election:

  • Register online through the Elections PEI Portal
  • Call Elections PEI 1-888-234-8683 (Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)


VOTER INFORMATION

The District 11 (Charlottetown-Parkdale) by-election will take place on November 27th, 2017, with polls open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Eastlink Centre located at 46 Kensington Rd.

Advance Polls will also take place on November 18th, 20th and 24th between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM at the Eastlink Centre.

Mail-in ballots applications must be received no later than November 14th, 2017 at 6:00 PM. Click here to download a mail-in ballot application form. Your ballot will be mailed to you on November 15th, and then you must return the completed ballot to Elections PEI by November 27th at 7:00 PM.

If you cannot make it to vote on any of the advance voting days or on November 27th, you can also vote at the District Returning Office at the Sherwood Business Centre, 161 St Peter's Rd, on the following days: November 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23 and 23.
