A New Direction for Communities
Progressive Conservative Party Leader Rob Lantz and local area candidates today released his party’s communities platform at a news conference in Eldon.
Drawing upon his years of experience in municipal government, Lantz noted the important role Island communities play in economic growth and in the delivery of public services to Islanders. Lantz outlined a series of proposals designed to return decision-making power to Island communities and give them the tools they need to chart their own future.
“Communities are the backbone of our Island. We need a new direction that respects Island communities and treats them fairly. Our new government will give communities the tools to chart their own future," said Lantz.
Highlights of the platform include district economic plans, municipal funding reform, doubling the Community Service Bursary, a Community Hubs Initiative, and the Safe Communities and Neighbourhoods Act.
