FOX URGES ISLANDERS TO SUPPORT O’LEARY AS HOCKEYVILLE CANADA
Charlottetown – Opposition Leader Jamie Fox is calling on all Islanders and Atlantic Canadians to support the community of O’Leary in its bid to become Canada’s next Kraft Hockeyville.
“I want to congratulate O’Leary for having been selected as one of the top ten finalists for Hockey Night in Canada’s Kraft Hockeyville competition,” said Fox. “The people in this community have worked so hard to achieve this success and I would urge all Islanders to rally in support of their efforts by voting for them.”
Fox reminded Islanders that they can vote for O’Leary beginning at 10 a.m. AT on March 12 at Kraft Hockeyville's website at www.khv2017.ca . Voting closes on March 14 at 12:59 a.m. AT. Besides holding the title of Kraft Hockeyville the community stands to win $100,000 for upgrades to their arena, plus they would get to host an NHL pre-season game.
Fox stressed the importance of local arenas as an integral component of rural life, by providing valuable athletic programs such as hockey for Island families and their children, and as a focus for community involvement in various events all year round.
“O’Leary is the only community in the Maritimes to make it to the top ten, so let’s make O’Leary, all of Prince Edward Island and the Maritimes proud. Let’s do all we can to support our Island community and bring the Kraft Hockeyville title to Prince Edward Island.”
