Former Premier Jim Lee endorses Rob Lantz for PC Leader
Thursday, February 25, 2015: Former Premier Jim Lee today threw his support behind Rob Lantz for the PEI Progressive Conservative Leadership, suggesting he possesses the skills required to form the next government.
Mr. Lee, who served as Premier of PEI from 1981-1986, said that the leadership race "has rejuvenated the PC Party and has attracted three great candidates, but Rob Lantz has emerged as the candidate who most appeals to voters both within and outside of the PC Party. Rob has demonstrated a tremendous grasp of the issues; he is a consensus builder and his plan for a new direction is being embraced by Islanders from east to west.”
The former Premier went on to say that Lantz’s non-partisan political experience in municipal government and his success in the emerging technology sector will serve him well the months and years ahead. “Rob Lantz understands business; he understands how to work through tough political issues and he has the ability to connect with Islanders from all walks of life. Rob Lantz will be a great leader for our Party and a strong Premier for our Province.”
“Rob is able to communicate and listen. I think listening to people, as a Leader and as a Premier, is very important in PEI. I had that experience. Listening is one of the strongest attributes you can have when dealing with people and heading a government at the same time.”
