Fox statement on federal election
CHARLOTTETOWN – Opposition Leader Jamie Fox today issued the following statement on the federal election:
“I want to congratulate all candidates who worked so hard in this election. We may represent different parties but we all work to better the lives of Islanders and to ensure that we are heard in Ottawa.
I also want to thank the many volunteers and Elections Canada staff who helped make the voting process run smoothly as we exercised our democratic franchise.
A new government has been elected and as elected representatives it's important for all levels of government to work together and focus on issues that matter to Prince Edward Island's future.
Finally, I want to thank Gail Shea for her outstanding service to our province as our federal Cabinet Minister over the last seven years. Gail worked tirelessly for the Island making tremendous progress for the fishery, for agriculture, for our public infrastructure, for our economy and our energy future. As the Island’s representative in the federal Cabinet she set the bar high for those will follow.”
