Job growth stifled by high taxes from MacLauchlan government

Charlottetown  –  High taxes from the MacLauchlan government are stifling job growth for Islanders, says Kensington-Malpeque MLA and Opposition Economic Development and Tourism Critic Matthew MacKay.

“From September of last year to now we’ve lost 3400 full-time jobs on Prince Edward Island. We can’t afford that. With the increase to the HST and a carbon tax on the way the MacLauchlan government’s high tax policies will not lead to more full-time jobs and better wages for Islanders,” says MacKay.

Newly released data from Statistics Canada for the month of September shows another drop of full-time jobs on Prince Edward Island. The number of full-time jobs available dropped by 100 while the number of Islanders in the labour force looking for work shrank by 1000. From September 2015 to September 2016 the number of full-time jobs on Prince Edward dropped by 3400.
