Melissa Hilton seeking PC nomination in Charlottetown-Parkdale

Charlottetown — Charlottetown City Councillor Melissa Hilton today announced that she will be seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 11, Charlottetown-Parkdale, in the upcoming provincial by-election.

“I care about the City of Charlottetown and its people. That’s why I first ran for Council. I think my experience there will help me be a good advocate for the people of Charlottetown-Parkdale on important issues that matter like health care, affordable housing, student debt, the high cost of living and tax fairness,” said Hilton.

Hilton has served as the City Councillor for the Stonepark ward since winning a 2005 by-election. Currently Hilton is Chair of the Finance committee, Vice-Chair of the Public Works Committee, and Vice Chair of the Parks and Leisure Committees. Previously she has chaired both the Fire and Emergency Services Committee and the Parks and Recreation Committee.

“As a mother of two teenage girls I also feel it’s important that we set an example that there are no barriers to opportunity for anyone to be part of the democratic process. That’s why I’m excited to be putting my name forward to join James Aylward and the PC team,” said Hilton.

Active in her community, Hilton has served on the board of the Four Neighbourhoods Community Health Centre and the Island Fitness Council and has volunteered with the Sherwood-Parkdale Minor Hockey Association.

Hilton lives in Sherwood with her husband Rob and daughters Nicole and Robyn.
