Opposition statement on Leone Bagnall
Charlottetown –Opposition Leader Jamie Fox today issued the following statement on the passing of Leone Bagnall:
“I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mrs. Leone Bagnall, an outstanding Islander and a dedicated public servant. A former educator, Mrs. Bagnall served as the MLA for 1st Queens from 1979 to 1993. During that time Mrs. Bagnall was a pioneering figure, becoming the first female Progressive Conservative Cabinet Minister on the Island, the first female Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, and served as the first female Opposition Leader from 1986-1993.
Mrs. Bagnall always brought class and dignity to her work and was a tireless advocate on behalf of her constituents.
On behalf of our PC Caucus and the entire PC Party I wish to extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mrs.Bagnall. She will be missed,” said Fox.
