PC Party Leader Rob Lantz today called for Premier Wade MacLauchlan to publicly address the eGaming scandal

Progressive Conservative Party Leader Rob Lantz today called for Premier Wade MacLauchlan to publicly address the eGaming scandal and release all documents related to his government’s failed eGaming venture.

Lantz made his call at a news conference today, providing an official response to the $25 million lawsuit filed against the province and senior government officials by Capital Markets Technologies over the eGaming scandal.

“The Premier must finally be forthright with Islanders about the actions of his government now that $25 million of tax dollars are at risk. However unpleasant it may be for him, sometimes scabs must be picked in order for wounds to heal.”

Lantz first wrote the Premier on March 4 calling for release of all documents related to the eGaming scandal and to allow the Public Accounts Committee to review the project. Premier MacLauchlan never acknowledged the letter and his MLA’s stonewalled all attempts to review the scandal by the Public Accounts Committee.

Instead, the government majority on the Public Accounts Committee wrote the Auditor General asking for direction on whether a review by the Committee would impede the work of her office. The Auditor General subsequently advised that her work would be unaffected by parallel reviews and disclosures.

"Again, I ask the Premier: clear the air," Lantz said.
