PC Party seeking ideas from Islanders

STRATFORD – Engaging Islanders about the future direction of the province is the focus of the Progressive Conservative party of Prince Edward Island’s policy process which was recently unveiled.

“As PC Party Leader one of my goals is to reach out and have conversations with Islanders about the policies we need to make Prince Edward Island a more prosperous and progressive society. Our policy process will be a grass roots driven initiative to engage Islanders from all walks of life. I’m delighted that Nicole McKenna has agreed to lead this work for us by serving as Chair of our party’s Policy Committee,” said PC Party Leader James Aylward in announcing the appointment.

Born and raised in rural Prince Edward Island, McKenna is a graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island and Dalhousie University. Active in her community, McKenna sits on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters PEI and is past Provincial Chair of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Women Lawyers Forum. McKenna practices law with the firm of Carr Stevenson and MacKay where she is a partner.

McKenna stated that the policy process will unfold over the next few months and will involve online surveys, jurisdictional scans, town hall meetings and stakeholder consultations culminating in a policy convention where the basis of the party’s platform for the next election will be finalized.

“This is an exciting time for our party and our province. We are excited to have honest conversation with Islanders and listen to their ideas.  I’m honoured to take on this role and look forward to working with Islanders to build the policy framework for a PC government under the leadership of James Aylward,” said McKenna.
