Rob Lantz wants to take Conservatives, P.E.I. in new direction
Lantz was in Summerside recently to open his East Prince campaign headquarters at 123 Water St.
“I love Prince Edward Island,” Lantz said as one of the reasons he is seeking the party leadership.
“I said to someone today that I don’t want to get into this to tinker at the edges and maintain the status quo. I want to make a difference. I want to take the province in a new direction and make a change for the greater good.”
He said, government needs to find a new way of doing things.
“The definition of crazy is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result,” Lantz said.
“I’m an idea person. I love to hear ideas that other people have. I love to think about ideas myself. I like to hear about new ways doing things. I don’t have all the answers. I’ve spent the last five or six weeks talking about ideas and issues and new ways of doing things with Islanders I don’t have all the answers and I’m wary of people who think they do.”
He said a new direction starts with a discussion and he is happy to listen to any Islander who has an opinion or an idea about how to do things differently.
“I think the province is in a very difficult situation right now particularly financially,” Lantz said.
“Every where I go I hear concerns about the level of debt. Which, in one sense, encourages me because I found in the past people don’t tend to be concerned about financial issues and the level of debt. It’s finally, unfortunately, found its way into the public psyche, into the public view, and into the public concern because of the level of debt that we have taken on.”
